Privacy Policy for Juliet

Juliet is a native OpenSubsonic client for iPhone and iPad, designed to stream and download music from your own self-hosted music server. We value your privacy and believe that your music collection, credentials, and usage data should belong to you alone.

This Privacy Policy explains how Juliet handles data.

No Data Collection by the Developer

Juliet does not collect, transmit, store, or share any of your personal data, credentials, or usage analytics with the developer or any third party.

There are no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting libraries, ads, or tracking SDKs bundled inside the application.
We do not run any servers that store your data or proxy your connection.

Direct Communication with Your Server

When you configure and use Juliet:

All network connections are made directly from your device to the Subsonic/OpenSubsonic server URL(s) you configure (both local and remote domain addresses).
No server authentication tokens, metadata requests, or audio stream data pass through any third-party services or developer-controlled systems.

Local Data Storage on Your Device

All application state is kept locally on your device:

Credentials: Server passwords and API connection credentials are stored securely in the system-level iOS/iPadOS Keychain. They are never saved to plain-text settings, SwiftData, or UserDefaults.
Library Cache & Configuration: Server settings, cached music metadata (artists, albums, tracks), and download tracking configurations are stored locally on your device using SwiftData.
Downloaded Audio: Audio files downloaded for offline listening are saved directly into your device's app container sandbox.
Cache Control: You can clear all cached image files and metadata at any time from the settings menu inside the application.

System Frameworks & Permissions

Juliet utilizes standard Apple APIs to provide its features, operating strictly under iOS/iPadOS system security boundaries:

Local Network Access: Used to probe and connect to self-hosted music servers on your home network.
Background Downloads: Uses standard URLSession background configurations to allow music file downloads to complete after the application is suspended.
System Audio Controls: Uses AVFoundation and the MediaPlayer frameworks to integrate with the Lock Screen and Control Center Now Playing widgets.
CarPlay: Integrates with Apple CarPlay to browse and control playback via compatible in-car displays.
